AUTUMN IN THE MOURNES
There is something about autumn in the Mournes. As the mornings become colder, the evenings draw in and the landscape starts to change across the hills, forests and coastline. The weather can shift quickly but that is part of what makes this time of year so distinctive. It is when the layers you rely on every day start to come back into their own.
A good hoodie or sweatshirt is one of those pieces. It can be thrown on for a hike through the Mournes, worn for a walk along Cranfield Beach, taken into Tollymore Forest Park or pulled on for a coffee in Newcastle, Co. Down. It can come away for the weekend, layer up on a colder morning or simply be there when you need an extra layer. It is the kind of clothing you keep reaching for, whether you are heading outdoors or just getting on with the day.
For Mourne Peak, that idea goes right back to the beginning.
WHERE MOURNE PEAK BEGAN
Before the Element Series and our growing range of outdoor layers, there was the Original Series.
Our first hoodies, sweatshirts and graphic tees introduced Mourne Peak to our customers and helped turn the idea behind the brand into something people could actually wear. We wanted to create quality clothing with a genuine connection to the Mournes, while keeping the designs simple enough to become part of people's lives.
Those first products also taught us a lot. We listened to what customers thought about fit, comfort and quality, while paying attention to how the garments performed through regular wear and washing. That feedback helped shape the brand and gave us the confidence to keep developing.
The Original Series remains an important part of Mourne Peak. It is where we established the quality and approach that still guide what we make today.
BUILT AROUND QUALITY
From the beginning, we wanted garments carrying the Mourne Peak name to feel substantial, comfortable and made for regular wear.
Our Original Series hoodies and sweatshirts use 350 GSM heavyweight brushed organic cotton, giving the collection the weight and feel we wanted. We pay close attention to the construction of each garment, with hoods and kangaroo pockets on the hoodies, ribbed collars on the sweatshirts, and carefully finished cuffs, hems and reinforced stitching across the range. Every detail plays its part in creating clothing that feels right from the first wear.
The materials and standards behind the garments matter too. Mourne Peak series uses GOTS-certified organic cotton and OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified materials, with production aligned with Fair Wear principles. The garments are also PETA-Approved Vegan, with no animal-derived components used in their production.
For us, quality is about getting the important things right. Good materials, considered construction and clothing made to be worn, washed and reached for again and again.
EVERY COLOUR HAS A PLACE
The Mournes have always given us plenty of inspiration. From weathered granite and forest trails to rugged coastlines and changing skies, the landscape around us is full of colours and places that stay with you.
That is where The Peak Palette came from. Rather than choosing colours simply because they were on trend, we wanted each one to have a connection to somewhere real. For the Original Series, we selected colours inspired by places, landscapes and landmarks that are part of the area we call home. Here are a few examples.
Heather Summit takes its inspiration from the blooming mountain heather, capturing the colour and character of the changing seasons. Donard Granite reflects the weathered granite of Slieve Donard, while Hares Gap represents the exploration and resilience of one of the best-known passes through the Mournes.
Cloughmore Stone draws from the iconic granite boulder above Rostrevor, reflecting strength and permanence. Tollymore Fern takes inspiration from the woodland around Tollymore Forest, while Bloody Bridge reflects the rugged character of the gorge and surrounding coastline.
Mourne Wall represents one of the most recognisable landmarks in the mountains, with its own sense of endurance and craftsmanship. Together, these colours give the Original Series a connection to the landscape that goes beyond the clothing itself.
Colour isn't chosen by trend. It's shaped by the landscape. As Mourne Peak grows and our Peak Community continues to grow with it, we want to bring more landscape-inspired colours into future collections and series. More places, views and experiences from around the Mournes and surrounding area can become part of the brand, with our community helping to shape where that story goes next.
Every colour has a story and The Peak Palette is where those stories come together.
As we grow, we want to stay rooted in the place that gave us the idea while continuing to create clothing that can be worn far beyond.

The Original Series is where Mourne Peak became something real.
Our first hoodies and sweatshirts were the garments that carried the name, introduced the brand to our community and turned an idea inspired by the Mournes into something people could actually wear.
Since then, the range has grown and the brand has continued to evolve, but the Original Series still represents what Mourne Peak was built around. Quality clothing, inspired by home, made for everyday life and designed to be worn again and again.

The Original Series was created with everyday wear in mind. We wanted to make pieces that feel natural in your wardrobe, whether you're heading outdoors, going into town or simply taking it easy at home.

Mourne Peak was born in the Mournes and is rooted in County Down. Living close to the mountains means seeing how different they can look from one day to the next. Clear mornings, changing weather, autumn colour, exposed ridges and quiet woodland all give the Mournes their own character. Those details find their way into the colours, products and stories we create.
